Post view at the Crossroads

As I consider the history of and the expense and effort that has gone into developing and maintaining the site, I have to now make a decision of whether to keep it going. We have some loyal members who visit frequently but I am aware the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have taken the majority of members away from community sites like this one.

Over the next few weeks, I will discuss the future of this site with a few friends of MD and then decide if I archive it and shut it down.  When we consider the negligible level of activity and postings it makes it difficult to continue to justify the expense and time to maintain the site.

If you have a comment on whether the site should remain active and online please post it now.

Also, if there is enough activity (forum post, articles, blogs, photos, etc) to justify the presence on the web, that may help in the decision.

Best regards,

MD Admin

Thank you all for your comments on this important subject.

I have decided to keep the site going for the foreseeable future. Will also start a campaign to get more activities going by engaging with the large social media platform.  You can help by sharing this link in any dog related topic or post on Facebook

This link will directly login anyone who is logged into Facebook on their phone or computer. Thank you for your support and consideration.

    Best regards,

As you know....I shut down mine many years ago, as well as most of the other dog forums. I hate social media for content, so difficult to research anything. I love MD, but fully understand...Whatever your choice is, I'm here for you guys!

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

    Dylan Thomas 1914-1953
Do not go gentle into that good night,
    Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

    Hi Gary

I understand your dilemma; it is not an easy decision; I was in a similar position which concluded by a shutdown.

When searching on the Internet for information, your website comes out in the first page of the search result and provides the respective information in a generous and informative manner. Your website contains a lot of useful information. It even has a critic that I came across, which is healthy and is indicative that your site is known to the doggie community.

However, if the site does not at least support itself, then I believe that you should put 'Number One' first.

Is there a way for your site to get some sort of a sponsorship?
