    • Has anyone heard of this? I don't remember reading or seeing this on MD. So here is the site. www.pythiosis.com

        • Yep, the freaky fungi. I treated a German Shepherd (unsuccessfully, as is the way with most of these cases), for Lagenidium. He initially presented with a small raised skin lesion along his dorsum. He was on two systemic antifungals but I had to tell his owners that he would die. He was four years old. Lagenidium has rapid systemic spread and invades organs. Many dogs succumb when the organism invades large vessels like the aorta -they hemorrhage and die. Nothing good about these cases. Dr. Grooters at LA State was able to help me with the necessary diagnostics. I sent blood serum to her. Here is another informative article: http://www.vet.uga.edu/VPP/clerk/stephens/index.php
