Mr S.E. Moseley was a dogmen from Staffordshire but lived at Burslem. He was a breeder of Cocker Spaniel, Mastiffs, bloodhound. Before the kennel Club accept the Bullmastiff as a pure breed Moseley used the affix "Hamil". Moseley advertisiments define his spirit in that time ..."set type wich breed true". They create a formula or breeding program using just Old Bulldogs and Old Mastiff with very high rigid principles. The aim of his breeding program was to fix a % of the 2 breeds Bulldogs and Mastiffs around 60%M x 40% B. The Moseley formula was often repeated for others new Bull-Mastiffs breeder's from his time. The Formula are CLOSE TO: F1: 50 M X 50 B CROSS 100 M (PURE MASTIFF) F2: 75 M X 25 B CROSS 50/50 M B (F1) F3: 62,5 M X 37,5 B CROSS 50/50 M B (F1) F4:56,25 M X 43,75 B CROSS 62,5 M X 37,5 B (F3) F5 : 60% MASTIFF X 40% BULLDOG Comments: In F1 he made a widecross with a lot of segregations problems coomon in this kind of cross. To produce a F2 with 75% , he chosen to comeback to the Mastif blood "backcross" fixing the pure breed Mastiif and solve the segragation problems for the next generation. In the F3 when he decide to use a 50/50 probably he select in F1 a very good dog that he feel was "his Standard" and decide to fix this stud dog genes in the next 2 generations, maybe with retrocross ( father x daughter). After F2 to F3 the narrow cross probably stabilize the genes for the F4. The F4 probably Moseley had a lot of stud dog to made the Standard but he decide to use some of the F3 Stud dog that probably was a special characteristic and result in his goals to fix in 60/40 and continuing the narrow cross to normalize the conformation and temperment for the new breed after F5. To produce a new breed in F5 Moseley was very conservator aim or very rigid principles. After Moseley Breeding program they set his Kennel with the name Farcroft and all Bullmastiff of today has at least one Faircroft as an ancestors. They guide The Nacional Bullmastiff Police Dog Club and set the Bullmastiff Standard with the Farcroft prefix: Some Old Pedigrees from 1920's to 1931: CHFarcroft Finality M09/06/1927 http://www.british-bullmastiffs.co.uk/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=16821&gens=5&db=bullmastiff.dbw CH Roger Of The Fenns M 07/11/1929 http://www.british-bullmastiffs.co.uk/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=40610&gens=5&db=bullmastiff.dbw CHTiger Prince MKC 21/06/1925 http://www.british-bullmastiffs.co.uk/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=48068&gens=5&db=bullmastiff.dbw CHWendy Of Bulmas F1305NN 18/07/1931 http://www.british-bullmastiffs.co.uk/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=50371&gens=5&db=bullmastiff.dbw CHSimbaM 28/06/1929 http://www.british-bullmastiffs.co.uk/cgi-bin/geneal.pl?op=tree&index=43604&gens=5&db=bullmastiff.dbw Thanks All.
