traveling to another country with your "pitbull"

That is just plain crazy. Do you mind sharing which countries you were looking into migrating to?  I also wonder if they have the same rules for Therapy Dogs - just an idea to look into.

    • i have been looking into the possibility of moving to another country....and of course would want to bring my dogs...well that idea is now shot to sh*t as it seems most countries have banned the importing of pitbulls, staffordshires, or any other pitbull type breed into the country. many of these countries allow the native born dogs of the same breed to be owned etc. but you cannot import them.

        • i was interested in moving to thailand, not permanently, for about 1 yr. its cheap living over there. I wanted to save some money and go live over there for 6 months to 1 year to practice muay thai...and of course I wanted to bring my dogs with me. There are houses with nice sized yards for about 200 usd a month....anyways importing pitbulls and staffordshire terriers has a "temporary" ban since 2005. now pitbulls are allowed in the country, if they are native born, they can even be exported, just not imported. So I was looking at the surrounding countries such as malaysia which also has a ban. Not sure if there is a ban in cambodia or not. So appearently people are getting around this by labeling their dogs as mixed breed. not worth the risk to me, as if your dog does not meet the requirements needed for import such as current shots etc and being the allowed breed it will be quarantined at your expense, it will then be exported at your expense and if you cant fit the bill it will be put to sleep no quesitons asked. also add to the fact that in the poorer areas people eat dog, its a dangerous place to bring a dog. Not risking taking mine there thats for sure.

Thailand has a bad problem with feral dogs and a very large population of "soi" dogs.
