The New RKF Standard

    • There is a movement afoot to standardize the appearance and colour of the Caucasian to one form. There are many mentions of "bear" but when I look at the current FCI standard the word "bear" or "bearlike" is not mentioned. It is mentioned once in the UKC standard. I wonder what will happen to the Caucasian Ovtcharkas that no longer fit the standard as proposed by the RKF? Will there be a registry (FCI, UKC) that will maintain the general standard that allows for the appearance of the original dogs of the Caucasus? Should owners of these dogs form a club to capture the registry of the many dogs that may be excluded by the new RKF Standard? Any thoughts or suggestions would be welcome! Gary
