clicking / cracking shoulder

Let me first start off by saying I am NOT a vet and imo you should take her in if you think its a problem. But a few things I would start off with first is, was pup playing rough with anyone since this has started? Can you lay her down and rub that shoulder and move leg in all positions w/o causing dog pain? Can you feel it when it pop's is it coming out of socket? Dogs have a high pain tolerance so the pup may or may not be in pain..Hard to say since I can't see her in action but I would not be running dog or allowing it to rough house much in fear causing any further damage. Is she on any joint supplements?

    • Hello. Has anyone had a similar experience? Two days ago I noticed that there is a clicking/cracking sound coming from my pups left shoulder when she is walking. She does not seem to be in any pain or discomfort and is quite happy to let me examine the area. She is a DDB 5 1/2 months old and weighs 32kgs, I think that’s about 70lbs....not sure of exact conversion ! The noise is only heard when she strides off her left front leg. This sound is similar to what you might hear from your ankles or knees when you stretch after sitting in a car for a long drive or like the cracking of knuckles. I have not made an appointment with the vet yet but will probably arrange it for this weekend if it has not gone by then. I spoke to the breeder last night and he has not noticed this with any of his dogs so I would like to hear from anyone that has come across this and what was the solution for you. Fingers crossed its not serious.

        • She was playing with a relations boxer and as the boxer is much more agile, she may have strained or knocked her shoulder while trying to keep up and play. She is fine with me feeling around and moving her shoulder. I have had my hand on her while she is walking but it is no different to her right shoulder. I do not have her on any supplements. She is moving good with no limping.
