How does this happen? Simple. he attacked his owner. In a terrible turn of events a grandmother was attacked by her grandsons dog, a dog she had been looking after for 3 years. She was badly hurt and may lose her arm. But the point to my post is this..... the early news reports had the dog as a staffy, the next day he was widely reported as a staffy x pitbull. Today he apparently was a pure bred pitbull. Once again the call has gone out to destroy all the pitbulls in the country. I don't pretend to understand why this dog decided to attack and I have nothing but compassion for the injured woman, my concern is that yet again there is no interest in trying to understand what really happened, or what breed of dog was really involved. This serves only to further demonise the pit-bull, and society as a whole is being denied the opportunity to learn from this horrible event by media too eager to jump on the pitbull killer bandwagon.
