The Dogo Argentino natural abilities

there was a split in the breed some years ago about acceptable activities for the dogo owners and a lot of people didnt want the breed to be used for any type of attack training and many were even opposed to hunting. in the eyes of many dogo breeders its supposed to be a show dog and family pet, so when a lot of us dogos that were used for pp started doing very well, even influencing some breeders to breed pp lines, there was a big uproar and the paranoia about bad breed publicity which caused not only the protection dogos to all but disappear within a few short years but it also affected the hunting stock in a negative way in this country where we went from having an abundance of top notch hunting dogos to now having only a handful breeders who offer dogs with any real working ability. im not aware of any protection stock dogo argentino breeders left in the us.

The family companion trait was bred into the Dogo when it was created by using the Boxer. That doesnt make it weak. Any dog that cant be a family companion is useless to bring in your home.

I am also agree wıth you H....each dog ıs for dıferent work and when someone wants a dog...fırst you have to know for what and why....so you can keep those dogs ok. ı get your poınt. And do you have photos from your dogo argentıno ....

Two of my three Dogos have Thunder Mountain Dogo Argentino in their breeding. Thunder Mountain breeds Dogos and does or has done some PP work with the Dogo. They would be the only Dogo breeder I know of here in the states. There is an Argentine breeder called Audacity and the have done PP work with Dogos as well. Audacity does have some good dogs, but I do not think Albert works any of his dogs. He is more into showing, and now he is busy with his honey business. The experience of dealing with Albert has not been a good one, but I do appreciate the quality of the dogs he sold to me, you can see my dogs here: http://forum.gaodogo.com/index.php?board=21.0 I am working to upload some photos. Below is Audacity Rocky (a strong but balanced and stable male Dogo, he is more a defensive type... means, when he bites you, he bites for real, not playing... when the decoy pisses him off, he will ignore the sleeve and go to his face...or anywhere he can grip.)
