It says they're walked often and well socialized.
Not sure what the point of this thread was... *-)

This from a web page that is part of a joint Dog and Cat event in New York City. http://www.akc.org/meet_the_breeds/the-breeders.html#nav-breeders Scroll down to the middle of the page. Under read more. These TMs live in Midtown Manhattan. It has been discussed how challenging, a large Molosser can be. Especially Five of them living in New York. Richard -

Its not often one hears about five large dogs living in one of the busiest metro area in the world.Especially TMs.I can tell you after growing up in the New York City environs. It takes resources and obviously this woman has invested in that. Thats what responsible owners should be doing all along. New York is great dogtown.Over one million canines live NYC. Since this is a Molosser site.I just thought this would be a good point of discussion. Richard -

Martha Feltenstein, the owner of these dogs is a president and main sponsor of the American Tibetan Mastiff Association. She is also highly compensated real estate attorney in NYC. There are many challenges for TMs living in NYC, but substantial resources help overcome them. Not as doable for majority of people. -

[/quote1250563644] Agreed. She obviously has the resources. As Al pointed out what is the point. I think a good point of discussion. Is how Large guardian breeds, like TM and COs. could live in Manhattan. Probably the TM becoming more westernized. Has a better chance. Many dogs have and could function in a large urban environment. Since everyone from one time or another has discussed about preserving these dogs. As they where intended. Should they become more urbanized? Even if one has the financial means necessary. Thanks Yelena for the background. Richard |-) -

i know many people who are preserving working TMs in the way they still are in himalayas, the way they were in ancient days! they still keep the dogs in similar environment and still breed solely for guarding! they are certainly not the dogs for a civilized society! such dogs are likely to be euthanized in US.. they attack strangers right away if they are in their territory! their average height is 26 - 29 27-28" being the average and weight will be around 50 kilos and can go up to 60 kilos! too huge HMs are not as sharp as those dogs!! if i want working TMs, i'd rather contact those guys than to import a dog from western countries! :D i am still in a dilemma! i am thinking whether to get a bulli or a TM from working stock! my friend has handpicked each puppy from shepherd and tribesmen and collected his own unique stock which he is breeding for only performance as guard dogs!! he has a dog who has even faced a leopard along with its father and made it run for its life!! here he is!! he is 9 yrs old, still fit and strong!! still ready to take on another leopard!! he is not that huge! huge dog's can't be like him!! he stands 28" and weighs around 55 - 56 kilos! he is training n teaching the puppies and other adults now! huge dog means, i am talking about dogs like this but the male above is known to be surprisingly fast n swift for his size!! and known to be extremely possessive of his territory and owner!! he stands over 33" prolly! the above black male is siring a litter with this bitch! the photo says it all! she was a puppy of 10 months prolly when this pic was shot! it is my friend's female! she is barking at the photographer! puppies are expected by december! he circulates the puppies among his friends and wouldn;t sell it to anyone! it is hard to find such people!! this female is very fast and intense! she has a hot temper!! she is known to defeat a big 31" tall HM puppy (8 months old) and a saint bernard standing around 32" together singlehandedly when a fight starts! (they live together).. -

this puppy is also from authentic working stock!! he is grown up now! the above male was also brought from tribesmen! he is a graceful gaddi standing at 27.5" at shoulder and weighing around 55 kilos! he is known to be highly determined and intensely possessive!! till date he has attacked 5 people! dogs won't get euthanized if they bite someone here!! people seldom sue here.. they'll forgive n forget almost always.. they can sue if they want though.. my GSD only has bitten more than 6 people so far.. -

ARUN, Nice dogs! Maybe not dogs for American "Urbian" environment.Dogs with sharp temperament needed in remote areas for protection. Thats what REAL Molossers are supposed to do. All my Best, Richard -

Interesting photos. How does the Bullmastiff perform in the Brazilian heat? I have friends in Recife where it's 80s year round and very few Molossers survive there. I do know that some Brazilian Police like the Tropa de Elite take pride...
