    • This is a link from dpreview. An excellent site. For checking out the latest gear. This piece caught my eye and had some good pointers on photographing dogs. http://www.dpreview.com/articles/7011163510/how-to-shoot-creative-canine-photographs-composition-and-dog-behavior Richard

        • I really need to learn how to get action shotS, I took a bunch of pics with my t2i yesterday and the subject was out of focus everytime grrr!!!
          • WoW~Thank you Very much for putting that up Ragdog!!! I'm horrible at getting pictures, so nice to be able to read some helpful hints. Much appreciated....
            • Well, I think i have to toot my own horn :) I think I take great dog photos, and i find it takes mostly patience, and i take a LOT of pics. Out of 10 pics, i might get a couple I like. I'm using a little hybrid camera Canon TX1, so I'm limited by lighting, distance and action. Shutter speed is not very fast, so action shots are the hardest for me. Here's a pic I took just yesterday of a male Tosa (not one of mine). His owner sort of held him in place this time. • Nice color. I hope to meet up with male and female Tosas that live in the next town over. I met them while i was on my way to the store. I pulled over and began to talk to owners about taking pics of the dogs, And they said yes. The dogs came from Toshi. Next time I'll have my camera ready. Richard

[/quote1318132231] Try the sport mode. Photography is all about light. If there is enough light shutter speeds increase to stop action. The sport mode on the T2i increases speed and continuously focuses and fires. You may get more usable photos this way if they are moving around not to close. Richard
                  • Richard, that is a great point about the continuous focus. I find that it works best in moving situations. I use continuous focus with spot and a center weighted exposure to capture my shots. I use the lowest aperture possible to blur the background on the photos. or not
                    • Nice shots Gary. Its amazing what modern SLRs can do. But they are just tools. With practice people can get shots as good as the pros. Richard
