Hanoverian Hound was the primary influencing breed.... When He brought the dogs over from Germany they were already crossed... The Plotts used them primarily on Bear. Anyone whos hunted dogs will tell you that Plotts are by far the fiercest fighters on game of all of the hounds... If a Bear wont go to tree, unlike Black and tans that will heat the Bear up. Plotts will do whatever it takes until the Bear pulls bark. They are one of the few breeds that one really doesnt need to use catch dogs with. As they will hold Hogs on spot till you get there. Many Cat hunters have recognized them in the past 30 years as being irreplaceable. They're frightningly intelligent fighters when holding quarry.
