Took Laika for the first time yesterday to an intorduction/evaluation PP class in Hollywood. She loves people and she is more meant to be a workout partner than a personal protection dog, so I was not expecting much of her.
Before I got there, I spoke with the handler on the phone, and he suggested to stay in my car after I park so that he can sneak in towards us and we'll see how she reacts. I know very basic, but not for a dog like her that loves people so much. She did surprise me when she freaked out and became very aggressive when the handler approached the car. She had never done this before, so that was a good start for us.
Later in the training facility (nice facility btw), we had a hard time getting her to focus on much because of the new environment, smells, other dogs, etc. She did better towards the end of the session though. I decided to take her back there maybe for 7-8 weeks and see how she developes, especially since I got lucky that the most amazing handler/trainer is conducting the whole thing.
I would like to get her to turn it on when needed, but at the same time remain as friendly as she is. Not even sure if this is possible...?
Will try to take pics in future sessions.
