I have an akita, an american akita female, and I can honestly say it's the best dog I've ever had. It will be extremely important for youto socialize your new dog and educate it properly. As brotherwolf said,they can be affectionate but can also be very tough dogs. Keep us updated with pictures when you get your dog.
