Anything less then 25% would be ok for both adult and puppy. Protein will stimulate growth and you do not want too much of that in a growing large breed puppy. Any kibble designed for large breed dogs will have the appropriate amount of protein for both adults and puppy - just pick a brand and buy age appropriate food.
