There is no 28+ "old school" Shepherd. If anything, most early examples were smaller. There are many good solid working dogs out there that are correct size AND all that. That noted, some East Europe and German working lines do throw a large pup now and then. Most "recreated" giant GSDs are not workers, but far from it, just bred for size and companionship.
