I don't see the discrepancy, I see a lot of book references, but not where the MD profile is inaccurate... Both seem to state similar theories (as well as others), though the second includes ancient mastiff origin, which you could state about all mastiff breeds. I find this similar to the land race discussion we were having earlier. Yes a Tobet is a CAO, but does that stop locals from referring to the dogs as Tobet? Is the author familiar with the other breeds named in the MD profile as possible contributors to the French mastiff?
