A little back round first: So my name is Chris. I am an American living in the Czech Republic (for a few years now). I teach English and run my adventure travel company which takes tourist on hiking and mountaineering trips through the Czech Republic and generally around central Europe (Poland,Germany, Slovakia, ect.). We typically go on trips that last on average 2 to 3 weeks, hiking and camping the whole way. As a young man, in the states, my father bred the Dogue Du Bordeaux for a time, up until he passed away. At the time he imported most of his stock from Europe (don't know where from). The dogs are all gone now but the ones I can remember were fast (comparatively speaking) and athletic. They had bully-ish features but carried very little extra weight and they seemed to have toooo much energy if anything (often getting them in to trouble). So here's my question. On this site there seems to be some owners of what I would consider nice looking more active type Dogues. Do you guys think that it would be possible for me to find a Dogue here in Europe some where that would be able to be my companion on these treks? Is it asking too much of a modern day molosser of this type to walk (people speed) through the mountains and country side for 2 to 3 weeks at a time, averaging 25-30 k (15- 18 mi) per day? If so, why? if not does anyone know where I can find one :) ? Thanks so much for any help/advise. This is my first post here but I am a real admirer of a lot of the knowledge on this board. There's a lot of GREAT and Healthy looking dogs here as well. Thanks alot, Chris
