We have Coyote here in Taos, NM that are surprisingly large. One ran past us yesterday while out walking on the road that was easily the size of one of our female Akita - his chest was massive. He was really an impressive animal. We have a CO to help reduce the risk of a Coyote grabbing one of our smaller dogs as well as to deter Eagle, Hawk, and Mountain Lions. He seems to be doing his job well. The [Red] Eagles and Hawks are our biggest concern. I set up a game cam recently to track the number of Coyote and other predators in the area and I have had very few images taken of predators while Luytiy [our CO] in on the job. Interestingly, we had to board him for a few days and during those days I got at least an image a night of Coyote - so they are obviously aware of his presence - and he is doing his job.
