Most importantly if you are photographing animals (dogs, cats, etc) make sure you shooting level is at the level of animal. To get great shots of a dog your camera should be at their eye or shoulder level as this give a better perspective of the shot. Taking photo looking down at the dog does not give the proper perspective.
