All good information here. I recall not knowing how hot the pavement was to my dogs. It was a hot day. I took my dog for a walk. He was supposed to sit. But he was hesitant. Then when we got near to some grass he broke command to get off of the hot sidewalk. That's when I realized the sidewalk was too hot. He wasn't being stubborn. He was avoiding sitting down and other things because of the hot ground. After that experience I walked my dog late at night. The pavement would be cooler then. Even my little Patterdales when at a dog trial they are ready to go. But as soon as we get done with an event. They will go under the truck to get cool. If the trials are outside I walked them in the grass whenever possible.
Tomorrow I'm taking them dock diving. I'm bringing my portable clip on fans to keep them cool on the way back from the pool.
