This isn't a put down, if you're offended by what I say, then it's because I've poorly expressed what I mean. So here's my question, a breed like the Alano does farm work seemingly similar to herding. Since herders are more intelligent than Bully breeds (not saying that they're better), does that mean that a dog like the Alano meshes the bully characteristics with superior intelligence? Judging by the amount of responses, it doesn't seem like the Alano is often used in Schutzhound, but that might only mean that owners have directed energy elsewhere. I'm sure there are highly trainable American Bulldogs and EBT's, and sometimes temperament affects things more than intelligence does, but it would be cool if the Alano is a breed that brings many of the better qualities of the Bully breeds to the accessible world of Schutzhound, French Ring, etc.
