Comment to 'Airedale Terrier with real terrier temperament'
  • Hello, My name is Toon and this is my first contribution to this site. I know this is a Molosser site but since there are many people here with dog knowledge I thought I'd give it a try. I am a big Airedale Terrier fan (grew up with them) and am thinking about buying one. Now my problem is that the majority of Airedales I see today no longer have the good old temperament I saw in the breed some 25 years ago. The breed has been influenced a lot by the shows (like many more breeds). Does anybody know where I can find the 'real' Airedales these days (i.e. kennels/countries)? By real temperament I mean Airedales that are very good with children, go when needed into protection mode without any human interference, and have a good hunting instinct (please do not misunderstand me, I do not advocate dogs that will chase anything on 2 or 4 legs, but for me this is an indication that the dog is willing to work/protect when guided well by humans). Thanks in advance for any comments/tips. Toon
