Comment to 'About the Bully Kutta'
  • those mbk dogs in pakistan would be called bully kuttas. the dogs fall under the bull 'n' terrier category (fighting dogs) a tosa, fila even a neo would be called a bully kutta in pakistan, why? because they are the same thing and of the mastiff type dogs. bully kutta is basically a sage koochee CROSS with the now extinct afghan bulldog (decended from the ancient alaunt) cross with an afghan/persian tazi greyhound type. and bred in the north west of india in various regional variations/types. the bully kutta together with sage koochis and aryan molosser were used as fighting dogs in what today is pakistan and afghanistan. when the british army came with their dogs, the local bully kuttas got crossed with great danes, english mastiffs, greyhounds, bull'n'terriers and other breeds brought by the british greatly influecing the bully kutta. thus the similarity between bully kuttas, tosas , filas and other mastiffs can clearly be seen. since dog fighting, bear baiting/wild animal baiting took off during colonial rule in what today is pakistan , the locals found that the old type english bull terrier and the old tyme staffs to be superior fighters, especially the old english bull terrier. these british dogs got bred with the already british influenced bully kutta to produce specialised bull 'n' terrier type fighting dogs such as the kohati bully kutta, gull dong and the gull terr. these dogs proved to be superior and better fighters than the more larger mastiff type bully kutta. the old type english bull terriers that remained and were still bred eventually overtime got mixed into the local gull terrs, thus seeing the old english bull terrier going extinct. the kohati bully, gull dong, and gull terr creation happened in the nwfp of pakistan in the area mainly inhabited by the khattak and niazi pathans.
