Comment to 'Training Defense Before Prey'
  • Hey, This is a very political topic. Some say its not bad to start a dog in defense ( defense oriented dogs that have low prey drive ) , whilst others will say this type of dog isnt appropriate for protection training. Not wanting to comment mr. Frawley`s ideas , I think you gotta work with what you have. If he has been blessed with dogs balanced in drives, I will agree with him. On the other hand, if the dog has strong nerves but is more defense oriented, I see nothing wrong with an experienced trainer bringing him in defense. This is a task for experienced trainers and decoys. A dog can be ruined if started in defense the wrong way. Regards
