Comment to 'Living with the Wolfman!'
  • The series is worth watching for the entertainment value and nothing more. There is no point to studying the behavior of captive wolves in a pack situation. It's not natural. The reason for a wolf pack to exist in the first place, hunt for food for survival and procreation, is gone. Because of that there is much more heightened aggression and presence of pack and rank order than what exists in the wild. The wolves develop anxiety and end up taking it out on each other because there is no other natural outlet for their prey instincts. Wild wolf experts like David Mech at this point are even reluctant to use the word "Alpha" when describing and observing a wild wolf pack. The strict linear dominance hierarchy is almost non-existent.
