2024 Pet Food Recalls
Since our dogs can't chose what they eat it is up to us to stay informed about any food that could be harmful to them. In 2024 there were some recalls and here is a brief summary:
In September 2024, ANSWERS Pet Food recalled several lots of their beef and chicken formulas due to contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes1
These bacteria can affect both pets and humans (1)
Darwin's Natural Pet Products: Also in September 2024, the FDA issued an advisory for Darwin's Natural Pet Products after finding Salmonella in multiple samples of their raw dog food (1). The company has since stopped shipping potentially affected lots
Viva Raw Pets: In January and July 2024, Viva Raw Pets recalled multiple dog food products due to potential contamination (2)
Blue Ridge Beef: Expanding on a previous recall from late 2023, Blue Ridge Beef recalled additional puppy mix products in January 2024 (2)
Mars Petcare: In May 2024, Mars Petcare recalled Pedigree Adult Complete Nutrition Grilled Steak and Vegetable Flavor Dry Dog Food due to potential contamination (2)
