Comment to 'My Pup Athena the Black "Fila"'
  • [quote1326251420=tiger12490] skin and wrinkles is part of the Fila and allows them to smell much to the same way the bloodhound does and everything from those ears (that's why high "neo" ears is a fault) and those wrinkles help in there original task of hunting large game and slaves in the jungle so it helps significantly in there function [/quote1326251420] Fair enough, actually. Assuming the extra loose lips do in fact help with tracking, I could see the point that biting its own lips would be considered a tolerable disadvantage in combat. But how do excessively floppy bloodhound ears help in hunting down large game or humans? Wouldn't erect ears be better for this? Or are wolves, foxes and bats all wrong? Also, could it be that high "neo" ears is a fault because for example the fila in the video appears to have neo infused? Just speculating here of course, but many times certain traits are considered a fault in various breed descriptions because of worry about impurity, not because of functionality.
