Kintamani Dog

This rare watchdog comes from the Kintamani region of Bali, where it has remained virtually unchanged for centuries. Considered by some to be the same breed as the Bali Mountain Dog and its regional subtype by others, the Kintamani Dog is a primitive spitz breed, often described as overly vicious and commonly employed as a loose property guardian. Bred in the mountains surrounding the Gunung Batur volcano, the puppies are usually brought down to the cities once a year to be sold. Agile, powerful and aggressive, the Kintamani Dog needs firm handling.

The harsh, medium-length coat is preferred as a tricolour, but other shades can be found, including solid white, brown and black. Average height is around 21 inches.
