Stabyhoun

The Stabyhoun was developed in Friesland in the early 1500's from local hounds and imported mastiffs and water dogs of Spain. Traditionally employed as a small game hunter, pointer and retriever, this versatile Dutch worker is a capable watchdog as well. The breed's numbers declined during the 19th century, but the Stabyhoun remains moderately popular to this day. Intuitive, trainable and devoted to its master, this lively dog makes a good family companion.

The rich coat is flat and waterproof, found in brown, orange and black shades, usually with white markings. Average height is around 20 inches.
