This is the closest we can get to the actual dogs that accompanied Alexander on his conquests. This mountain molosser was well suited for the damanding job and harsh conditions endured by the dogs of the campaign. I think this is pretty darn close to the real thing.  There is resemblance to the CAO, Great Pyrenes, Akbash, Maremano and other dogs of the region.... so it is indeed possible.
