There is no 28+ "old school" Shepherd. If anything, most early examples were smaller. There are many good solid working dogs out there that are correct size AND all that. That noted, some East Europe and German working lines do throw a large pup now and then. Most "recreated" giant GSDs are not workers, but far from it, just bred for size and companionship. If looking for working dogs, do be aware that some competition lines are also impractically high driven, causing a highly strung dog...

    • Does anybody know any reputable breeders that sell these? Backs less sloped, 28+ inches at the whithers, etc. Any breeders with sound hips, good temperaments and solid lines?
