AB/Rott/Lab cross
Hi Chris,
Good luck with the cross. Sounds like you seek a very nice outcome and that is admirable. As suggested by Cawkazn some thought should go into the disposition of the unwanted pups from the litter. Choice would be to Cull or Place. Do you know if there is such a mix already being bred? good luck.

I am considering crossing my standard AB male with a Rott/Lab cross. I had been thinking of the popular warlock cross of APBT with Rotts and was thinking of crossing him with a Rott, but a friend recently had Rott/black lab puppies and thought that the lab might be a nice touch? Any thoughts are welcome, thank you for your input.

would probably be very hard to find forever homes for any of the pups you dont keep. i think you have warlock and panja mastiff confused, warlock is for oversized dobes, panja mastiff is the rott/apbt cross. I dont think the dog is very popular or there are many around, didnt really seem to catch on. im sure there nice dogs but dont think there is much of a demand for them. ab x rott x lab? confused as to what you are trying to achieve here? a guard dog that can retrieve?

Ya might have been confused on Pitt/Rott cross, as to what I am trying to achieve... Pretty much hit it on the head a guard dog that can retrieve. That's pretty much what I already have in my AB male. I just want want him a little better on the guard dog without losing my beach dog for the kids.

By Standard AB, do you mean Scott? Crosses are great, and a good dog is a good dog, not matter what. So, it might work, and it might not, but granted that the female has the Rott blood, it should be a plus when it comes to guarding. Any pics you can post of the Sir and Dam? thanks

I'm not sure that there is anyone breeding for these specific charecteristics. As for the pups I have several people who want pups from my Sire already, as long as they don't come out retarded. I crossed him with a Pitt once and we got a beautiful Bandog but she ate all but the one we saved. This AB is simply the best all around dog I've ever owned. And yes by standard I mean Scott, the classic Bully types for me are way too problematic and quite simply not functional at all. I may just have to break down and buy a female AB.

there are soooo many lab/pit mixes out there, in pounds, being given away for free on craiglist etc. maybe just get one of those.
