Does your bitch suffer of PMS-symptoms?
The intact females I own(ed) have all had thier moods, raging from grumpy/pissy to lovie/passive. Each a little differant in thier own way. Be understanding give them privatcy when they need is. I don't train or condition females in heat. The stay i the house and get all the play time they want. I do keep the house temp. cooler durning these times.
Personnaly, I woundn't give any pain drugs. The heat cycle is natural the dog needs to deal with it,

PMS = Premenstrual syndrome My Little Diva does. She is anyhow quite moody of her, but about two-three weeks before the heat she gets peevish - really bitchy, the other four-legged stock members nearly doesn't dare to breath in her presence. This continues until the heat starts and over one night she turns to love-sick and a bit brainless creature. She insists to sleep tight in to me in my bed during nights and doesn't let me from her sight. Luckily her ovulation cycle seems to be quite long, she has her third heat just now and she will be three years in January. Otherwise I would not stand out her terrorising whole household during few weeks. Does this sound familiar? Have you any ideas how to ease these symptoms? I've heard some bitches to have pain as women does and get relief of painkillers, but in my Little Divas case it seems not to be a question of pain, it is more likely mood-related problem. -

Thanks Dan! :hi This co-dependency during the heat, makes it almost impossible to do anything without her... Here I tried to email her laying on me - and she weights a bit over 50 kg. -

My female definitely shows PMS-symptoms ("grumpy/pissy" on the Platz-scale), but it's the male that actually suffers from it. ;-) Dan P.S.: Edit your link at the end to ...14505&pos=0"> for it to work. :) -

About this co-dependency -phase. It is quite strenuous, as said, she crawls in my bed and insists to sleep tight to me, preferably laying on me and she weights a bit. If you try to close her outside the bedroom, she gets anxious and no-one sleeps after that. She follows me everywhere jealously watching after that no-one else gets between me and her. I'm so glad that we do not have children.... -

To be very honest, your dog should not be sleeping in your bed, at all, be if a male or a bitch, especialliy in heat. If you regulate your bitch to a nice bed of her own, you would not be having such problems with her during her cycles. And her temperment would be more under control.
