    • I took Juno along to a Pitbull sports event last week. They were maily doing sprints using a lure and speed weight pull. This was the first event organised by this group IPBTA (Irelands Pit Bull Terrier Association) The sprint course was only 40m (44yards ?) Idealy it should probably have been between 80 - 100m. Most dogs were only getting into their stride when they had to pull up and stop. Juno's best time over the 40m was 5.73 seconds. Not bad for a big girl. 24 dogs took part. The majority were apbt but there were a couple amstaffs and sbt, also a lurcher and border terrier. The quickest dog on the day was a pit @ 5.04 seconds There was no harness big enough for Juno to use so she didnt do the speed pull.
      • Amazing photos of your dog :) do you have any video or more pics? what a stunning animal!
        • Whoot Whoot- Sounds like it was a fun day had by all! Love the pics Juno is developing nicely.....
          • Good job big girl!
            • How big is she? Anyway, great job and really nice to see a dog in such great shape.
              • I bet her time would have been better if the guy pulling the lure kept it in front of her was it deliberate or did that happen to most of the dogs? Very nice dog she seems to be doing great.
                • Looks like the lure wasn't quick enough for her, you're right a short sprint like that definitely favours the shorter bull and terrier type dogs.
                  • Good job :) Nice to see big doggies doing something....anything!
                    • Yes the pics shown above were taken before the battery was changed in the lure machine. Once they changed the battery the lure was flying !!! She is almost 3 years, height 26'' it's been a while since I took her weight but I'd say she is around the 55kg mark. I dont have any video clips of the day. Some other pictures I have of her.
                      • What beauty she is in awesome shape !
                        • I bet she could have done much better if she wasn't slowing down because she was out running the lure and yes the track should have been longer. Her shoulder seems to be fine now.
                          • Wow she is amazing, I love how in shape she is. This is what I like to see for a bordeaux
                            • Cheers guys. I'm very happy with her condition at the moment. Now that the evenings are getting that bit brighter I will increase her exercise routine. Carlos, her shoulder has been great with no prioblem in 2 years. What ever it was it never came back.
                              • What is your exercise routine with her? I have been doing some moderate jogging with moose but want to increase his exercise when he turns 2
                                • Good to hear she is in great shape and next year she could win the competition.
                                  • My exercise routine for Juno is pretty simple. Week day mornings she gets a short 5-10 minute jog off lead. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday evening’s 4 mile cycle (22-25mins) After 2 miles we play either tug or fetch for a 5-10 mins. Tuesday, Friday evening’s we walk 4 miles. (45-60mins) After 2 miles we play with the flirt pole and do some jumping onto a platform about 1.2m high. Saturday is an easy day with just a half hour walk in the afternoon/evening. Sunday we normally hike the hills or hit the beach. I plan on getting Juno fitted for a harness soon. I will then introduce her to some light weight pulling. I will probably increase the distance we do in the evening's too.
                                    • Thanks, Moose has a lot of energy so it good to finally be able to get some info from people who give there bordeaux exercise!
