e-collar
What dose the e- collar look like and will it work on a co long hair or short hair and medium hair caucasian mountain dogs???

Hi,
I am Desiree and own a co. I am using the e-collar when my co is off leash on the beach or parc. works great. I only use it by emergencys. The viber is already enough to warn him that he isnt allowed to attack someone.
My experience is only with my own dog, easy because i can read him perfectly.
Now my niece owns a anatolian sheppard who runs away sometimes and she wants to correct that, because she has seen that it works perfect.
My question is are there any suggestions here how to train the anatolian with the e-collar.
People with experiences here?
Friday she is coming over and we will start training him, i hope i can make some nice photos and write down how it goes.

Hi Des,
the best way is to follow the instructions that came with the e-collar. It will take a few days for the dog to learn the corrections but it is well worth it.

E-collars can be great tools, but they are only as good as the user. Get one that has stimulate, vibrate, and tone modes. Before you zap the dog, review his recall skills on a long line and in a fenced area first. Does he really understand the command? Has the command been 'poisoned'? I think this is a great video about the steps preceding the addition of pressure (eg. e-collar) for recalls. Of particular note are the concepts of superstitious associations and competing motivators.

I dont use the e-collar for basic training. My dog listen very well, i only use it by emercencys.
Works perfect for me.
Started when he was 2 years old.
And i believe that when i train Inar with the collar he eventualy walk through the shock because he is used to it.
