    • why are you allowed to hunt hogs with dogs but not javelina with dogs?
      • Hogs are concidered a nucience animal, basically a pest. In Illinois Coyotes and Ground hogs are nucience animals were can hunt them all year with any weapon we choose. We can't use dogs to hunt coyotes but we can use terriers on ground hogs. Javelina are concidered game animals. Game animals are regulated by each state & sometimes the Federal government. They can onlly be hunted in season with weapons approved by the state. Each state is differant but, most classify animals as game or nucience. Javelinas & hogs both are "pack" animals. Javelinas however, have a much stronger bond with their family members and are much more dangerous to hunt with dogs vs. hogs.
        • but surely a large pack of dogs would have no problem taking these guys out
          • You seem to be confusing hunting with slaughter.
            • haha, well i would prefer to have too many dogs than not enough. that way the dogs are safer. It sucks because I live in southern california inland empire area. no close hog hunting spots, and the ones i can get out too i dont htink are that great. not like living in texas or something. im still young. one day i plan to have alot of land, several differnt kins of hunting dogs, and a good time
