• The American Monographica will be taking place Sept 19-20, 2009, in Tallapoosa GA. For more information and entry forms: www.dogocanarioclub.us/Monographica.htm Saturdays events are 2 open confirmation shows, with Spanish judges. This is different this year, because usually the second show is restricted to DCCA club members only, but htis year you have 2 different chances to win/get two different opinions on your dog by experts! HOWEVER---PLEASE NOTE---you MUST PRE-ENTER for Saturday's shows. There will be NO DAY OF SHOW ENTRIES for the confirmation shows!!! Sundays events are all working oriented, with a 3 level breed specific TT by the WDCA, an Iron Dog Triathalon and a Protection tournament for experienced dogs. ALL dogs be they "presa" or "dogo" are invited. Any breed can compete in the working events. This show has routinely attracted dogs numbering around 100, the largest event gathering of this breed outside the Canary Islands. Come meet the breeders that are out there, and see the dogs people are talking about!
• Good luck with the show. It would be great to be there to see all those awesome Canary dogs. Also, please fix the Forum menu link on your homepage to point to the correct http://dogocanarioclub.us/forum/index.php

• THX Gary, just one more thing on the list to fix.. Bobo- last year's protection event had several different "challenges" all with their own decoy. WE are lucky to have several different, qualified decoys available to us in GA and in this breed that help out each year. I do not have the particulars of the setup for this year since i"m not involved in planning the test, but I wouldn't expect something so mundane as ONE decoy....
• Just reminding those of you planning on coming that time is running out to register. We have been hearing some people are confused with the online entry form. If you have trouble with the online entry form, there are numbers on the site you can call and talk to a LIVE person ;) There is also a FAQ page, and there will be a handling class on Friday that you will want to register for. The TT events already have a great response, and the IronDog Triathalon is confirmed.
• Good luck. I hope it will be a great event.
• Some exciting news for this years show!!! Second show will be a new venture! Traditionally, the second show at the Monographica was the national specialty of the DCCA. However, this year we decided to open the second show to everyone, and allow everyone a second opportunity to get a different opinion, impress a different judge to take home the top honors! We are officially announcing the inaugural event of "Presa-Palooza"! It is our hope that this new event will grow beyond this inagural event, and travel to other locations, albeit in a smaller grouping then the Mono, and encompass other things for presas to do. I am already in the planning stages for a second PresaPalooza to take place up north next year. You can still enter this show, even if you have already put in your entry for the Mono morning show. Just resubmit an online entry form, or call 804-633-2841 to register over the phone. Every year we get feedback asking for more then just the show and working events. People have been asking for classes or seminars. While we have offered a sitdown round table discussion with our Canarian and Spanish judges in the past, but this year we are including a class for our attendees. One of the biggest things we hear from people coming to the show, is that they fear showing because they don't know what to do. Despite our relaxed atmosphere that we try to foster at the Monographica, we understand your concerns, and have made arrangements to help. Mr. Beau Hadden of Bravo Kennels in New York, has graciously agreed to give a seminar on handling, based on his own methods. Mr Hadden has an impressive list of accomplishments in the show ring with presas... Some of Mr. Hadden's accomplishments: Rarities top two rated presa canarios for 2006 and 2007 DCCA regional specialty winner 2007 American Monographica winner 2008 DCCA National Specialty winner 2008 NAKC Top two rates presa canarios 2008 First Presa Canario to enter the NAKC International Dog Shows Hall of Fame Only two presa canarios to achieve the Master Supreme Grand Champion, Supreme Grand Champion, and Champion titles with Rarities and NAKC (USA and Canada) First American known to have personally shown an American bred presa in the Spanish Monographica Mr Hadden will be covering a variety of topics in the seminar.... Sequence of events in the ring "Stacking" your dog The proper way to show the bite Proper Gait speed Collar position "Down and Back" Do's and Don'ts... and he will gladly take your personal questions at the end. Mr Hadden will be using his own dogs to demonstrate, so please leave your dogs at home/the hotel. Unfortunately there just won't be room for a hands on course THIS year. Courses like this can take many sessions normally, and cost about $150 PER SESSION...you can get it all for only $25, and it will be presa-specific information!! You JUST CAN"T BEAT THAT!! Space for this event is very limited, so let me know you plan to attend ASAP by emailing me at USAMonoShow@yahoo.com, or calling Carla at 804-633-2841. The class will be held at the Pavilion at the show site, and start at 3pm on Friday Sept. 18. Mr Hadden of Bravo Kennels has also been gracious enough to gift us with another first for our show. This year we will be raffling off a first edition, gold women's presa canario bracelet. If you're a man, this bracelet will be an ideal gift of appreciation for the woman in your life that supports your love of this breed. If you're a woman, what better way to complete your outfit then with a token of your favorite breed, set in an elegant gold bracelet? These bracelets are not yet available for sale ANYWHERE, and Mr. Hadden has gifted us with the first one out of the jewler's hands! Raffle tickets will be available at the show, and the drawing will take place at the end of the Monographica (AM show). Time is running out!!! Remember, starting Sept 6, 2009, the price for the conformation shows goes up to $40 per dog registered! We are trying hard to combat one of the bigger complaints about most shows- the wait for everyone to register, and then for us to start the show. If everyone is preregistered, and only has to check in, this will be a lot faster and smoother for all involved. So please register now, while the price is only $25. Within 24 hours of registering you will be sent an email invoice confirming your entry and allowing you to pay either by paypal, or giving you the address to send in a check or money order. Working events are still enterable at the show...
