Best regards,

Hello All!
My name is Monica & I live in Maryland. If all goes well, I should be bringing a Presa puppy home this coming Spring. I have always been in involved with dogs one way or another since I was a little girl. As a 12 year old I did obedience & agility with my then Cocker Spaniel through a 4H program. 13 years ago I got my first show dog (German Pinscher) and I finished his AKC & UKC CH. Now I am moving on to a new challenge & plan on competing in obedience, agility, & nose-work with my potential Presa.
I currently have my 13year old German Pinscher, 10 year old Rat Terrier, & a 4 year old Boxer mix rescue in my household. It's been a LONG while since I had a puppy, so this should be fun!! :-)
Looking forward to making new friends here & talking dogs!!

Nice to meet you. I wish you much success with your new presa pup in the Spring! There are some people in Maryland and near Maryland if I remember correctly that has presas. One of my pups is in Maryland.

Thanks!!! Yes, there are a few Presa people in Maryland. :-) Very cool that you have a puppy out in MD!!
I am getting really excited about my potential puppy....I am on pins & needles as we speak until the breeding happens. But I have no problem waiting for greatness....a Presa is not the type of breed you want to go "cheap" on. ;-)

I think the president of the UPPC is there. He took over after Richard retired.

Oh really? I didn't know that. How cool is that!

I don't know your experience with the Presa. But he might be a good resource to aid you in finding a good pup if you haven't already picked a litter. He also knows the breed and can help with any questions. He has many years of experience with the breed. You can look him up on their website.

Hi Gary,
No Presa puppy yet. :-( The breeding didn't take, so I am back to square one so to speak. The breeder I was working with is planning another breeding, so I am going to wait & see what happens. I may start looking again soon. I will definitely post pics when I do get a puppy! :-)
-
Sorry to hear that. It happens. We were planning a fall breeding but missed her ovulation. We are now planning an early spring breeding.

Yeah, you definitely can't force mother nature to do anything. ;-) It's all good though, good things come to those who wait. In the meantime, I will keep myself busy & start Rally with my Boxer mix. ;-)
-
Great. Two of my presas have their Rally Obedience titles. I haven't decided yet but I may earn one with my other dogs. I've been working her obedience more lately.

That's exactly what I want to do with my future Presa too!! Lately I have gotten real interested in both Rally & Nosework, I'm lucky that I have an AKC obedience club 10 minutes away that offers classes in both!! So while my search for a Presa continues, I will just keep busy with my chug-a-lug girl here who loves to do anything that involves food. ;-)
Speaking of Presas & Rally....do you think the Presa is a good breed for that activity? What I mean is that I know Presas can be hard headed...but overall with the right treats & motivation, you think they turn out to be good obedience dogs? That's really what I want to pursue next with my next pure bred. I have done conformation showing & although I enjoyed it thoroughly, you can only get to a certain point with it. With working sports you can try lots of things & you have more options. So you think a Presa would be good for what I am looking for?
-
They can do anything you train them to do. They do Rally, obedience, nose work, dock diving, weight pulling, agility, protection sports, and personal protection. They excel in them.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear!!! I am so in love with Presas & can't wait to add one to my household! :-)
When's your next litter again? ;-)
-
It is up to the owners. You can have them do anything. They are a working breed. Working means more than bite work.
We plan to breed in April /May.
URO -1, Ch. Grace, CGC with a male that we don't own. She also has her national and international titles.

Awesome. I'll probably post an announcement here after we confirm the litter.
