this is a magnificent breed! i'll get this dog or jonangi i thought of getting authentic bulli kutta soon! true bullies cost a lot (money is not a constraint)! but not even all the money in the world can equal the worth of bulli kuttas! i ruled out bulli because i have a HM male too! if those two starts a fight, it would be a problem.. that is why i have chosen pandikonnas! i have a very active life style! i want a high energy and high spirited dog with fiery fire and daring temper! so, this hound is the right breed for me! i love the strong temper of these dogs! do let me know a couple of weeks before you guys visit that tribe.. i'll see if i can come too!

sure arun.You can see the Real temperment of dog in hunting.may be in june or july we go for hunt also.u can join us tat time also if u want.even though i will try to get some hunting videos if possible

ok venkat! plz do me a favor! kindly note the best dogs in the tribe and we'll pick the best puppy from the best dogs from the tribes! preferably from the leader of the pack! i have a passion for healthy dogs! i.e, dogs known for good health and long life span! i'm sure that these are one of the toughest indian breeds! with rigorous training, i'll make him the best specimen of the breed! he'll pass endurance test every now and then when he is matured! :lol: i'll take him for cycling and jogging and prepare him well!! i am with you in your efforts towards these dogs! i just love these dogs!

yes! it is by rajapalayam i got into indian breed deeply! he justinspired me! such a completeness in courage and fire! i love dogs like that! his valor was just superb! where did you get to know about rajapalayams?

These are primitive aboriginal dogs with no outside influence.The vilagers there wouldn't even know what a bull terrier looks like.Bull terriers(old type) are almost exclusively found in Punjab and Rajasthan in the North of India.Pandikona is a rural isolated village in Andhra Pradesh which is more than 3000 kilometres to the South. I dont know what you mean by your "life in the fast lane" crack but if you are referring to dog fighting you would lose your bet since these dogs are used for hunting and guarding mainly, dog fighting is unheard of in those parts. ya jaj was right.people over there dont know about bull terrier and all @boomslang i havent completely explored the village.i have seen one excellent dog over there unfortunately i couldnt get a snap of him.that 14 year dog was real miracle he dont have a single scar on his body despite of lot of hunting.he is the smartest dog over there

Guy mostly u will find two kinds of markings in these dogs 1.Brand marking .villagers make these marking wid heated up IRON rods.They Usually crop the ears of the dogs at age of 6 months manually with sharp knifes with out sedation.They do give their brand marking at time of cropping of ears.They feel that this process of marking wid hot rods imporves dogs appetite during that harsh period of wounds result of cropping These are brand markings marking on their back legs are brand marking sort of thing 2.Scars made by boars.Hunting is the main part of their tradition once the season starts they hunt almost every day.They do hunt only wid dogs and spears. These are marking made by boars We cant find a single tiger in that region

The Tiger cracks were pun, but the brand marks was something I did take for some serious dog fight scars. Branding was the last thing I’d have thought of.

Thanks Venkat for the pictures and interesting info they are all consistent in type like many other Pharaoh type dogs only the best pass on there genes because they are survivors.

@TempleZion They are not breeders.Even in INDIA its not allowed to treat animals like that.But the place from where i got this stuff is too remote.No govt officals can reach that place.In india hunting is prohibited.They are tribals most likely hunters they survive on hunting.All they know is following their traditions and practises of hunting tats all. @denno There is no dog fights over there @Carlos1122 they are survivors for sure.i will tell you what villagers feed them is normal rice. These dogs are so independent they go to forest by them selves and hunt and find nutrious food for them selves @maximus thanks @Drooln you should understand the situation over there.They cant afford modren techy things since they are poor people.who survive on hunting They do love dogs as we do.but only thing is their practise are so hard but they had no other options for example see the following protective collars for the dog.which is developed from hard rubber and Nails They do this to protect their dogs from wolfes during hunting. They do all necessary thing to protect their dogs from all kinds of threats

may be wolves need tetanus shots.. but who renders them such service? all they do is to kill them by gathering all the dogs from the streets, farms and houses and empowering them with these type of spiked collars. wolves are endangered and these tribals don't care about all those things and they want to threaten the wildlife and put the dog's life to risk and engage in unfruitful practices.. if they hunt for food, it may be less obnoxious.. but why do they hunt wolves? may be they eat wolves.. whatever they may do.. their dogs are really marvelous!

i dont think they hunt wolves for fun or food. They do that to protect their sheep from wolves.i heared tat if they found any trace of wolf near the village,They will track it and hunt it down.since they cant take a chance of loosing a single sheep

wildlife protection act has been made a farce by such practices by these tribes. when such a law is in force, it has to be respected and followed! no excuses can justify their misconduct and offence. STs have been given so many facilities for their empowerment. they have never made use of it and nor would they make use of it in the future. the whole world is open for them. they are admitted wherever they go. the question of livelihood can never be a justification when the world at large has embraced them and given them so many facilities. as a matter of fact, right to livelihood of the wolf is to be considered as they are cornered by tribes like these who make it really difficult for them to breath in the name of 'tradition' and 'livelihood'. i don;t understand why the hands of the law are so short. nowhere has it been mentioned that the wildlife protection act is not applicable in remote areas. in fact it is in remote areas and in forests it should be in force. otherwise it is just a farce!

See arun its not that ur aganist tribesman or i am with them.since india is so diverse in landscape and cultures.We cant just blame officails or law eforcements officers since even u l make them aware of all the facilities they have even then they cant come out make use of those facilities becoz of the situation over there. one thing i would like to say we cant blame either officials or even tribes man since wat tribesman are doing is there for survival and same wid the officers. for Tribesman lifes of their livestock is much more important than lifes of wolves they feel them as pest but we feel wolves as endagered species.its the different perceptions of different people there is no end to discussion since both the ends had their own valid reasons

These dogs are very tough and does not require any vaccination also. They are very tough and good guard dogs to home or farm. They are very good at guarding a heard. Mostly used for herding goats, sheep's and cattle. Very good at hunting boars. There dogs are not playfull because there dogs are not bread in such a way till now. Bury very much tolerate. People over hear do not sell the dogs and will give to people who they know well. 4 dogs are enough to heard a very big pray with ease.
