Picture added. Is this an Alano Espanol / Spanish Bulldog

In the past the term alano englobed all the types of catch dog, heavier and leaner.Posibly the dogs that the english called spanish bulldog was alanos of the former type.In my opinion the dog more closely relationed (in his origins at least) is the DDB.The modern spanish alano is breeding of catcht dogs of the north of Spain (more exactly Vizcaya-Santander frontier) with an strong boxer influence. In early XX century heavier dogs was employed, but trought the years, the cattlemen learn that a lighter dog can do the same work and crossed with other dogs (the villano have this origin in that concepct, but an step way in lightness).Actually all the tales about "perro de toro" are cheap (and bad) literature.Sorry my english.Greetings from Spain.

    • Found this photo attached to an add for a Spanish Bulldog pup. I presume this is the Dam. I have never seen an Alano in person and am curious to know what you guys think. At first glance I was thinking there is some Boxer or Bullmastif in there but what do I know.">
      • I was interested in the breed some breeders breed Spanish bulldogs heavy bulldog type others breed the alaunt type thinner faster less wrinkle they look very different but many consider the same breed coming from the same stock but crossed with different dogs and bred like the old bulldogs or alaunts they were recreated from 300 dogs of type and some more out crossing in the 80's I've seen some video of the Alaunt type and they are fast. Most European countries had at least 3 types of mastiff, bulldog, faster bear or hunting type, & Larger war or guard mastiffs. And the picture does look like the alaunt type but also resembles the boxer, bulmastiff they have been mixed in like most old world dogs Cane Corso, Dogo Canario, Rottweiler & Nepolean Mastiff they almost go extinct a couple of times or do and they get remade with breeds they originally may have helped make.
