    • for those of you that tie your dogs out. I am wondering what hardware you use? for the dogs safety i think it would be best that the only way the dog can come free is if the collar is removed.

as for me i have to share my yard so when I am not home i have to have my dogs tied, also if they are loose for too long they will dig under the fence and get out. So a secure tie out system is important to me.

I was previously using swivels with snap clips, but they have manged to get out somehow, rare but they have done it. I am guessing they must have laid down just right or something to have the chain push the snap clip open. Another time one of the swivels ended up breaking, the head eventually rubbed the metal down enough for it to pull out.

So I have upgraded to some newer swivels, they look a bit better built but I have had a real hard time finding very large strong ones, home depot, lowes, walmart, local hardware store, nuthin!

so I have the new swivels, plus i have moved over to the twist shut clips. I am going to put some lock tight on the threads before clamping it down.

I will be gone for 2 nights and I want to make sure my dogs do not get loose while Im gone

one more thing I was thinking about would be using 2 collars, in case one fails there is a back up.

      What do you guys think?

      • I had a rescued Wolf hybrid  that was impossible to keep fenced in' I solved the problem with a steel cable overhead that gave him plenty of room to run and since it was above his shelter and water he was safe and secure and tangle free..ONCE I got a body harness on him..he could slip out of any neck collar I owned..only good for about 48 hours as the son of a gun would start to chew the the rubber coated steel cable after that. I actually ran a double cable to harness which kept him safe and every living creature in his range safe.

        • the double collars would be good as long as you use one quick link per collar connected to a swivel use a wrench to tighten the quick links they can open up. I've used the overhead cables the work good just not with multiple dogs unless you have enough room to keep them apart.

            • Make your own trolly, use a heavier wire as well as a chain. Shouldn't have much problems past that. Although if this is a busier area I would not leave your dog unattended, or a stupid person might find himself looking at a full mouth of teeth.

              • We're can   i find that  Heavey   wire at and why can't I just buy the kit dog tie out get the 100lbs one ?

                • Ok I just got a email from co breeder saying that co need a tow chain that would be 400lbs-500 lbs

but can I just a dog chain that xheavy my lab is on dog chain she dose just fine on it . But it 26inches long I do not know how much it whight

so if someone can help me please :(

                  • We're can I get Hevey troll wire to make my own dog tie out run what store

                    • Just buy the tie-out from a good pet store. It is probably cheaper than making your own. However, stores like Lowes and Home Depot have what you would need to make it.

                      • Will want tie out at the pet store  that say dog up to 100lb  tie out it 12.99 dollar to get it100ft long so can I just it from the pet store

                        • Depends on the matured weight and strength of the dog you will use the tie-out for.
