Weight Pulling DDB

I have seen statistics from DDBs in pulls. Training is a slow process that requires patience as well as a drivey dog. Ive seen everything from Jack Russels to Tibetan Mastiffs pulling so its possible.

    • Was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of any Douge De Bordeaux doing weight pull at any level, be that at competition or just part of their exercise program :?: I'm sure I have read that this was a job of the old working Dogue back in France. Thanks
      • I have a 1 yr old male DDB and I was wondering the exact same thing........ I would imagine he is capable of pulling some very good weight, however convincing him he wants to pull the weight will take more work ! LOL

          • finding a ddb with the physical ability to pull weight is one thing, finding one with the drive needed for the job is another story
            • My boy is ridiculously strong, however he tends to be a bit on the lazy side at times LOL !! tho he is extremely athletic I would think he will lack the drive... I have a harness already so we will definitely be teaching him to pull....I don't have any huge expectations, but we will see what happens
              • If your boy is fully tested out health wise esp his heart ...Go 4 it :!: :!:
                • Her name is Sarabi. She was bred out of Red Dog Ridge show lines and is owned by Red Knight Kennels. As far as I know, shes the only DDB to earn a weight pull championship through the UKC. heres the kennel link: http://www.geocities.com/redknightsddb/
                  • Ive found some in the IWPA but werent doing much. Sarabi is impressive though.
                    • FREAKIN SWEET :!: :!: :!: You show em :box :sword :nchuck
                      • I have seen a guy from Colorado...forget his kennels name, he pulls and places DDB's all the time. Never seen them take top spot as thats pretty much secured pound for pound by AB's, APBT's, and American Bully's. But the guys dogs work and look good for DDB's. Which for most other people I am used to seeing DDB's look big and sloppy.
                        • That's a great action shot!
                          • What a face she has, while doing the work...
