Now that the NC General Assembly has adjourned for the year, we turn our attention to other government intrusions.
Many people are concerned about new rules proposed by the US Dept. of Agriculture. UKC, AKC, and other dog groups are working to get as many people as possible to comment AGAINST the proposed rule known as APHIS-2011-0003-0001.(APHIS is an acronym for Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, a division of the US Dept. of Agriculture.)
The problems may be summarized by this:MORE GOVERNMENT INTRUSION.

Thank you for standing together as dog owners against intrusive government.It reminds me of Benjamin Franklin’s response to John Hancock’s remark that the revolutionaries should be unanimous in signing the Declaration of Independence: “We must indeed all hang together, or, most assuredly, we shall all hang separately.”

Many hobby breeders are already holding off on breeding in case this passes. Are you a hobby breeder? Educate yourself. There are too many loopholes in this for anyone to be comfortable. Think you are safe because you do not breed? Where did you get your purebred dog from? Your quality hobby breeder, may not be breeding if this passes. Support your family with a grooming business? Less purebred dogs, less entries at show, less meet the breed, less competing, less dogs being groomed. Do the math. They want more regulations. Anyone can pop out 12 children, whether they can afford it or not. Beat them or not, feed them or not, in fact the gov't will give you MONEY to help you with all these children you should have NOT HAVE HAD to begin with. But go ahead, just try to breed DOGS!
doesn't that just figure? typical political GAMES -- if they don't get the answer they want, they change the rules. voters vote in a new ammendment, and the losing side doesn't like? what do they do, over ride the rules and the voters.
clearly "they" (the politicians trying to pass this) didn't get the support they wanted, so they extend the deadline, so they can pander and bribe and back deal to try and get their own way
