Esther-C Miracle cure??
I was sent this article, and to be honest I cannot believe that I never heard of this for bad hips, thoughts and " cures" you are aware of. http://workingdogs.com/doc0039.htm
A moderate amount of C won't hurt but don't count on it. Studies haven't shown vit C to be a magic bullet for HD.

• Nick - Dogs produce vitamin C in their bodies (unlike human beings ). Healty dogs should not need supplemental vitamin C. If they get too much it will flush out via urine. As you do more research you'll find that there is a realtionship between HD & a deficantcy of Vitmin C, possibly cause & effect relationship. :?: I believe the improvemt in HD dogs given C is when the Vitamin C gets to the normal level for that dog. But it stops there, the HD relief is relative. I saw a major inprovement in an 11 yr. old Catahoula that bi-lateral HD, after being on ENP's Glucosamine + http://www.effectivenaturalpets.com/cluc-con.html I do not know if my dog was at proper levels of Vitmin C. I do feed BARF, with a big varity of Fruit & Veggies along with the Meaty Bones. Which Should supply enough Vitamin C. :?:
• I give my dogs along with Deer Velvet http://www.deervelvetinformation.org/ I havent had any problems with it and take Deer Velvet myself
• "Enhances Sexual Functioning for both men and women " http://www.deervelvetinformation.org/ Put that on the label and you can sell anything.
• Miracle Cure? Hardly. Unless it can cure what is there genetically, I think calling it a cover up is more accurate.
...did prevent CHD -- or least its symptoms
[blockquote]they learn to deal with the problem as they grow older[/blockquote]
•
I was sent this article, and
That article among many other great ones are also right here on MD in the content section. I bet many of you have not even visited the Content section yet? Give it a try or use the search feature.

Recent scans have shown that after fours years and obviously me aging there is no difference in the before and after film. Obviously people can be sucked in when desperate but I didnt fancy the long list of things I could get from treatment and thought why not. Many of us take a multi vitamin and no one scoffs that so until proven otherwise I will keep taking it. So I dont know if it helped but it sure didnt do any harm. As for the other claims I thought Viagra was invented for that.
• viagra was actually developed for heart patients but showed *side effects*
• lynnicks - I'm very big on Holestic diet & meds. I agree with your thought completely. It just strikes me funny that this bennifit shows up time & again on many of the natural products. :D People in Asia wqill pay rediculous $$$ for things like Rino Horn, Bear Gall bdder, Tiger Penis in the hope of greater sexual prowess. I've other thought of starting an inernet myth that Dried Rottweiler Poop can increase a man's Sexual "strenght" 10Xs    I could retire after cleaning the Kennel & yard.
•   I could maybe dry Kangaroo dung aswell. I agree if it is proven that there are no benefits from certain substances why continue with exploiting endangered animals but this deer velvet is taken from deer while alive although not sure whether they are sold on afterwards as game meat as it is big business in New Zealand and here. I wouldnt actually take something which an animal is just killed for the sake of producing some non proven remedy. But many unusual herbs, teas etc., have over years proved to work on many people suffering with cancer and I for one dont see any harm in trying them.
• Herbs and natural medicine are very useful and usually very safe unlike prescription drugs which use to be the fourth largest killer in north America behind strokes, heart attacks, & all cancers. Now doctor administered drugs kill more than cancers they are the 3rd leading killer but everybody wants the magic pill even if it kills them the drug companies don't want to cure you they want to give you something for the symptoms for a hundred dollars a month for 20 years even if it kills you. For joint problems anti-inflammatory aren't effective for long term use they damage the whole digestive system doing little good. Vitamins C can help arthritis but should be used with a B-complex and Glucosomine Chondroditen MSM taken twice a day liquid form is best this will help rebuild cartilage and surrounding tissue helping Dogs & People better than any prescription. They helped me and many people I know you don't have to take it for long to see lasting results I haven't in years. This is the dosage I would give to people or dogs over 100 pounds 1000mg of Ester-c twice a day 2000mg total given in small doses to build up to that level if the stools are loose back off the amount given till stools firm up that is the most they can use they can make there own Vit C but can use more. A good B vitamin complex one pill twice a day with added vit D. A liquid form of Glucosomine/Chondroditen/MSM Webber makes a good one taken twice a day for a total of 2000mg of each nutrient if you can't find a liquid soft capsules or powder are better than hard pills and hydrochloride is 50% more usable than sulfate. These things work for everybody that I have given it to and have been proven to work in people & dogs.
• i gave each of my Tosas some ester C and joint support up until a year. i use human supplements, and found some C powder, and capsules with Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM. the amount of C i added may have been about 200mg/day and the joint support, half adult dose until 6 months, then full dose after. maybe large and giant breeds sometimes don't produce quite enough C to keep up with the manufacture and maintenance of collagen and all that goes into joints?
• I asked why it would/could work and Vet at Univ of Penn said that not all dogs make enough C and that may also be genetic ,the Ester C since it's formulated to stay in system seems to help some joint issues in some dogs and really helps most dogs when used with a B-complex and Glucosomine Chondroditen MSM taken twice a day
