I had to put my boy dog down due to being poisoned by some asshole! Both of my dogs were poisoned on Friday July 3, 2009. We did not know until Saturday anout 6:45 am when Sam had a seisure and both and defecated in their crate. When the crate door was opened Chloe could barely stand and was shaking pretty bad, and shook all the way outside and used the bathroom. Sam was too weak to do anything, so we immediately began looking for an emergency clinic. Once we got them there Sam took a turn for the worse, his one seisure became once an hour to twice and hour to three times an hour by Sunday. After discussing the recovery possibilities with the vet he told us that even if Sam was to recover he would probably not be much of a dog. Chloe was a concern for the vet as well because she was just down, but the vet thought the meds had done something to her. My family and I walked to the back where they were and Chloe perked up immediately. While we were there I feed her 1/3 can of dog food just to see if she could hold anything down. Which she did! So we made the decision to put Sam down right there. It was sad but the right decision to make as Sam had begun to have two seisures in the last 30 mins as soon as Sams heart stopped Chloe gave a low cry as if she felt it herself. Chloe is now home and recovering, she is not 100% yet but making a speedy recovery. R.I.P. Sam 12/27/07-7/5/09 Gone too soon! -

I am so sorry for your loss, never easy to lose a good friend. I hope your Chloe does well, and whoever did this does not. Has anyone complained about your dogs? Any clues? Vet know what was used...was it stryctnine (sp.?). Very sorry, you all deserved alot more time. jane -

The vets don't know, and the poison control couldn't figure it out. They treated both dogs with meds for the highest neurotoxin they had knowledge of and that couldnt save Sam. The last time I had a complaint about the dog was when I only had Chloe and she was about 9-10 months and she's 25 months now and no new complaints since then. But I still believe it couldve been either the next door neighbor or a neighbor a few houses down! -
