Yes they are a very interesting breed.Especially if you are really into history. The Alaunt the breeds ancestor, is supposedly where all bulldogs came from. Its the romance sometimes that we all get caught up in. The Modern Alano still lives. As far going to see them. Ive had short conversations with Mario on and off for awhile. He agreed to let me come up and see them last week. Although he is not breeding anymore. He has one female. And his neighbor, has one of his male pups. As well as his co-worker with the fawn male in the gallery. Real beautiful dogs in person. I was told that there maybe no more than fifty Alanos in the US. Certainly a rare bred indeed. Richard -

That's amazing Ipcongas I have been in love with this breed since I learned about them and their unique traits. What is their level of dog agression? Are they dominant? I have a contact in NJ that has two dogs from las tinieblas. -

They are not aggressive in the sense that we normally see aggressive dogs that attack other dogs viciously. They are always dominant and will let any other breed know it. Once the other dogs stands down and becomes submissive it becomes all play! Now Cascorro our beloved male that has since passed on, which you see with my daughter on this web site, was very very mellow with all dogs unless they made the wrong move. But even after taking down some dogs in seconds flat, he would release without any harm to them and then lay down right next to them as if nothing ever happened. He was my wife's favorite, as he always attempted to sit on her lap! They are extraordinary animals like no others I have ever experienced before. They are very loyal and always want to please and seek your attention. I hope this enlightens you a bit more about this wonderful breed. -

"Dogs are very intelligent. They understand much more than men choose to give them credit for. Their pride is enormous, and through this feeling they are easily moved. Laughter, when directed against himself, no dog can endure, and the slightest reprimand is always answered by an immediate change of aspect. Rather than have their dignity offended,...
