• Is it possible to encounter Caucasian Mountain Dogs 30+ at the shoulder?
• .
• I found a breeder displaying the "Bear" type, and they have a male that is 31,5.
• I have a Caucasian Somecharka that is taller than 30 inches.
• I have one male right at 30 inches, his sister is 29 1/2, they are 2 1/2 years old, and their aunt is 29 inches, all at the shoulder. Kat
• These dogs are all well over what is preferred today. Buran, 30 inches 160+ lbs(guesstimate) Archi and Zhen Shen, 32 inches and over 200 lbs I don;t remember this dogs name, but he is 40 inches tall and 270 lbs, Perhaps Yelena Levitina will post here, she knows more about that dog than I do, and she also has some very largo CO. Mike
• That last dog is really 40? That is unbelievable.
• OH! when I saw the name of this thread I thought it had to do with something else......
• All are beautiful CO's!

• His name is Tajson (pronounce Tyson) son of Basmach.He lives in Ucraine and its said that he was feed only with meat,also most of the dogs from his bloodline are all over 200lbs;
•
I'm not sure if any "Caucasian Mountain Dogs" are that tall, but Caucasian Shepherds can reach 30 and more inches at the withers, yes. Recent trends demand a smaller dog, but there will always be much taller examples in the breed, just like they've always existed.
Recent "trends" don't "demand" a smaller dog. The fact is that the Russian breed standard has most recently increased minimum height over that promulagated by the current FCI standard. Some lines do seem to be losing height by the fall of the genetics.
•
These dogs are all well over what is preferred today... Archi and Zhen Shen, 32 inches and over 200 lbs... Mike
Zhen Shen is no where near 34 inches and 200 lbs.
• Can't read what they are saying....but no worries...That freaking monster of a dog is crazy huge!!! and beautiful :D
•

These dogs are all well over what is preferred today... Archi and Zhen Shen, 32 inches and over 200 lbs... Because you say so?? I don't think so. Try peddling your crap on to some unsuspecting newbie. We all await for the reinforcements to start circling the wagons again. How are the snow scenting dogs coming? LOL

The line does not consistently produce huge dogs. Ignorance is bliss and I'll leave you to that, but other readers may be interested in more factual information than you provide on this breed you know very little about. Photo ZhenShen:
•
Is it possible to encounter Caucasian Mountain Dogs 30+ at the shoulder?
My old male Zoot are over 32 inch high and my young male 8,5 month old Fedja is 32,7 inch. (See gallery for photos).
• Over 30 inches is not uncommon, but I take issue with the reporting of extraordinary weights which is often puffery. There are a few 200+lb dogs but usually such reports are exaggerations, which then contributes to the (unfounded) criticisms that the ruination of the breed is at hand. due to breeding of oversized dogs.
• Damn, and to think, you took some 6-8 months off, I thought that if you came back you would have come up with something interesting to say, or actually educational and correct. Guess I was wrong. Done with you now, bye bye. Hope the kennel hands can handle your dogs for you.

It makes the atmosphere sour, and instead of motivating others to participate and discuss our breed/dogs in a civil manner, it makes people stay away from the discussions.
• About dogs you mentioned, Zhen Shen and Archi, I will not talk about weight as it is hard to estimate correctly that, but concerning height the reality is that Zhen Shen is not higher then 29 inches, in spite of medium size he is however very nice KO. Archi has size 31,5. I am talking after seeing them many times in real with and without coat.
• If zhen shen is that tall i am wondering how tall that other dog is at th e background because he is a lot taller
•
About dogs you mentioned, Zhen Shen and Archi, I will not talk about weight as it is hard to estimate correctly that, but concerning height the reality is that Zhen Shen is not higher then 29 inches, in spite of medium size he is however very nice KO. Thanks for the info. ------- Height is accurately measured with an instrument called a wicket and is measured at the shoulder area, not the top of the head!
• That clear the sky.Zhenshen looks good but on that photo he looks indeed not tall. Thanks for the info :D

• Yes, larger than average! OH, what, this is about dogs? Sorry, I misunderstood.
