• Hello to all! I was wondering if there was something that people used to take the smell of dog out of their yard. While I do not have acres upon acres, and the dogs are walked and us the bathroom most of the time away from the yard, there is still a distinct smell of dog in the backyard. So I was wondering if there was something to spray or lay in the yard that would kill the "odor"? But is also safe for the dogs?
      • Hey Pittbull22! I work for a pest control distribution center. We sell a safe bio-degradable solution which is safe for the enviroment and safe for pets. the product is called Bac-A-Zap. It's order encapsolated, in which it cantains active live bacteria and enzymes. For more information check out www.nisuscorp.com and also check www.smcpoh.com. Good luck! -Tom

          • The only sure way to have your yard NOT smell like dogs live there is to - not let them out there... sounds silly right? Well - if dogs use the same land for evacuating it will eventually smell like dogs - poo and pee there. Best thing to do is clean up solid waste everyday and keep the yard well watered. The upside is that if you smell it long enough it won't bother you anymore. You will get used to it. Personally I have 4 dogs using my yard and the only time I smell the distinct pungent odor of dog crap and pee is when it is freshly deposited. You could also consider some aromatic bushes and plants to adorn the yard. Using any chemicals, "natural" or "organic" additives would be my last choice.
            • Do poppy patrol and water the grass ..at work I had a big sandbox that I trained all dogs to use ( except males still marked) You do get used to smell I patrol my yard 2x a day I also only smell the newest deposits
              • Stool from raw fed dogs has hardly any smell.
                • Train them to go to the bathroom in the neighbour's yard.
                  •
Stool from raw fed dogs has hardly any smell.
I do feed raw 100% as opposed to a couple of months ago I was on a 80-20 mix, but changed out completely, and poop still smells like poop regardless! Thanks all for the help! ONe more question what type of yard do you all perfer for a multi-dog home? I mean grass, dirt, gravel, anything specific, or everyone has grass yards?
hmm.. you may may be getting too close to try and see if it smells. If you got some dog crap on your nose you know you were too close. While you're down there checking it out you might as well pick it up and put it in a garbage can, that may help eliminating smell in the yard too.

Picking up the poop is one of the best ways to control the smell. As stated above - poop still smells like poop. However, if you spray vinegar on the lawn it will kill your grass.

                          • We use stall refreshers in our kennels. Find them at your local feed store. One in particular i like is Sweet PDZ. It's a fine powder that I treat the kennel area and yard with periodically. We have several males here, and a fe intact females, so there's a lot of marking going on
