A young American Sentinel Canine...

Here are a few photos of one of our young prospective American Sentinel Canines. I am really liking the working characteristics I see in this young female...and I will update this post with some working photos and/or video at a later time...but for now, I just thought I would show a few pictures of her. She is out of Chimera's Preacher-Man and Chimera's Gator...and her name is "Nunovit," as I suspect the criminals will want none of her. LOL. Thanks for viewing... • BTW, Nunovit is only 7 months old at this time.
        • Lovely girl, I like her muzzle and her overall appearance. How big do you expect her to get?
          • If I had to guess...I would guess 80-85#. Fortunately, for me, that isn't as critical for my needs and desires...so should she turn out to be 75 or 95...that's fine too. Size plays a big role in many bandog programs, and it has its place to be honest...but for me size is less important than overall ability to stop an attacker. I like her for her drives and working attributes/abilities. We have been selecting hard for quality females over the last few years, and as a result I have been blessed recently with some nice up and coming females. Her and Little Hurtin are two of my favorite females for our program right now. Both need more work and training...but both showing excellent potential. I am also liking Blue Jean a good bit as well.
            • I honestly like smaller dogs as well, I like for them to stay under a 100 pounds. In my humble opinion I think 80-90 is the best weight for a dog, big enough to stop with brute force but small enough to conserve energy. The Dogo Canario I fostered was about 120 and I felt like the dog was just too big. I am also not a big guy lol so maybe that;s why I prefer them under 100 pounds.
              • I like males in the 90-115# class (85 minimum, 125# max for me). I like females in the 75-100# (70 minimum, 110# max for me). If a dog is bigger, it still needs to work well. While extra size brings power, it generally comes with less agility, stamina, power, mobility, and heat tolerance. We do not have the luxury of knowing when or where a criminal will make their move, so IMO, the 75-120# dog displays the best balance for great adaptability. The smaller dogs lack the ability I desire, and the larger dogs lack the adaptability and workability I desire. Moderately large, but not giant is my preferred size for all around ability.
                • Are American Sentinel K9's easy to train?
                  • I find them easy to train, but I don't use a lot of compulsion. I use motivational methods...including both food motivation and prey drive items.
                    • BTW, that is of course in reference to doing OB. When it comes to PP work, I want to see what is typically referred to as a balance both defense and prey drives...but for me is more appropriately referred to as fight response.
                      • Which game APBT bloodlines did you use to create the American sentinel K9?
                        • Sorrells and Hammonds
