[blockquote] is there a healthy population in andrha pradesh ?[/blockquote] not much, very few dogs were left, its in the verge of extinction. Now quite a few people were showing interest in this breed. [blockquote]Anyone else see a little bit of a resemblance to a pharaoh hound in this picture?[/blockquote] Except Erect ears i dont find any resemblance. This is very short dog and body type is quite different when compared to pharaoh -

[blockquote]Interesting breed. Are they only white (or light) colour?[/blockquote] As of now we doesnt have much info about this breed.i am still digging into it. According to people who keep this dogs they come in white, wheat color,black... i think they mostly come in solid colors @arun They have used for guarding and herding ducks. They have proper temperment to perform above functions @Scarlette i think they can be compared to mexican hairless ,but no way related to them -

They seem to belong to the aboriginal dog group (basenji like characteristics). Not got around to doing a study on this breed/landrace but it is on my list of things to do ;-) Regards, Yaj.
